Hello! I am a full-time faculty member and course lead for Purdue University Global’s School of Business and Information Technology. While I teach in IT now, I previously taught vocal music, theory, and composition/arranging; wrote on weekends for a newspaper; and even once was licensed to sell insurance and investments (don’t ask … it was not my best life plan). This is my 12th year attending TCC and I am looking forward to this year’s presentations.
I work remotely from the Quad Cities IL-IA, where we are enduring major bridge construction over the mighty, muddy, and currently overflowing Mississippi. At the confluence of the Rock and Mississippi Rivers, our Credit Island was where Black Hawk’s men and the British successfully pushed back Americans under Zachary Taylor in the War of 1812 (the battle was actually in 1814) – and where Amelia Earhardt’s first teacher Neta Snook learned to fly. Immigrants from Holstein-Schleswig scattered into Iowa here because they wouldn’t wait for the “special” riverboat captain who could get boats through the wicked Rock Island rapids (since tamed, of course). Abraham Lincoln came here to successfully defend the railroad in the late 1850s after an unfortunate incident perpetrated by angry riverboat folks. Sprawled on an island between the states is Rock Island Arsenal, the largest weaponry manufacturer in the US run by the Army; Dred Scott visited at one time. We also lay claim to John Deere, the resting place of Charles Dickens’ errant son Francis, and the invention of Dairy Queen soft-serve. Our rich heritage includes people whose ancestry connect us to a bevy of cultures, countries, and continents.
Oh. Sorry. Sometimes I get carried away. Local history is always there if you look for it!
See you all soon in some great sessions here.

I am an adjunct for PurdueGlobal and somehow my Kaplan.edu email is being used- I did something wrong but apparently the Kaplan email worked.
I have been with Kaplan/PurdueGlobal online adjunct for 13 years in the Science Dept. I love teaching online and continue to grow as an online educator constantly.
I teach Face to Face as a Professor at Housatonic Community College for 20 years.
My love is online teaching. I have been put down at my full time job and hear that online is not the same learning. However, I believe my online students work harder and learn more. Writing is critical as they learn with the assignments.
I have been at TCC every year. I have a very hard time with the time zones so I am going to be extra diligent as I try to be here for the presentations that interest me the most.
Enjoy all!
